Few events in our recent history are more shocking than what happened in yesterday’s vote in the UK.

From a cultural perspective, I must admit I was shocked at the outcome because I was sure that that the underlying British risk aversion would prevail, especially with regards to an economically adverse possibility. Obviously, I was wrong.

It turns out that there is a generational difference in the way people voted, which, from my perspective, underscores how some aspects of cultures change by generation. It seems as if younger people voted to stay in the EU, while older ones opted for Brexit.

I guess it depends on where the generations perceived the greater risk. In other words, is it a future where more events can be dictated by outside forces that are out of an individual’s control or is there less risk in a future that could resemble  more comfortable past?

What are your cultural observations?
